Edith P. Gilkey, 92, of 113 N. Water St., longtime member of the Selective Service Board and member of the Board of Zoning Appeals from its inception to 1970, died Friday afternoon in Carmen Nursing Home. Miss Gilkey became secretary of the Selective Service Board in 1949. Prior to that she taught school, her last teaching position at Tuttle Junior High. She was a member of the local Business & Professional Women organization. She was born Aug. 27, 1882, near Yountsville, a daughter of Samuel and Emma Smith Gilkey. She attended school at Alamo. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. Three brothers and a sister are deceased. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Burkhart Funeral Home with the Rev. P.J. Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home an hour prior to services.
